Perry E. Jones, DDS, MAGD, IADFE
Perry is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry, where he is an Adjunct Faculty, Associate Professor in the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Department as well as an Adjunct Faculty, Associate Professor in the Department of General Dentistry. He has earned a Fellowship as well as Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry and served as Director of the Virginia AGD Mastership program. For the past 10 consecutive years, he has given the Invisalign University Training program to the D3 pre-doctoral dental students at VCU School of Dentistry. Dr Jones developed the curriculum for the VCU D2 Thermoplastics course, the first University in the world to use 3D printed models for a hands-on thermoplastics University course.
Orthodontics has been a key practice focus for some 30+ years. One of the first Invisalign certified GP providers (2001), Dr. Jones has been a member of Align’s speaker TEAM since 2002, presenting some 300+ Invisalign certifications. He has published some 35+ articles in publications that include: Glidewell’s Inclusive magazine, Chairside magazine, Dentistry Today, Inside Dentistry, Dental Product Shopper, Dental Economics, Journal of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, Journal of Oral Implantology and others. A regular contributing editor for many Invisalign publications, he is also a regular speaker at Invisalign GP Summits and International Invisalign Forums. He has several archived “Ask the Expert” (ATE) Align Webinars and his “Clear Chronicles” on-line blog which followed three of his Invisalign patients, was a feature of Align’s education website. His consulting service (www.ClinCheckhelp.net) has consulted on more than 10,000 ClinChecks. His passion for orthodontics extended to establishing the American Academy of Cosmetic Orthodontics (AACO) where he also serves as Director of Continuing Education.
He is also passionate about scanning technology, 3D printing and guided surgical guides. Dr Jones was one of the first beta testers of the iTero intraoral digital scanner in 2006, as well as the new iTero Element intraoral digital scanner technology. He was the first beta tester of the E4D milling system for use with iTero scans, as well as the first to beta test the iTero digital scanner for use with the IOS Fast Design milling system. Currently, he is helping develop in-office milling of the “BruxZir Now” solid zirconia product. Some 3 years ago he was the first general dentist in the world to integrate 3D printing into everyday private dental practice. He currently has three different 3D printers in everyday service, used for models, surgical guides and provisionals. He was recently honored as a fellow of the International Academy of Dental Facial Esthetics. Dr Jones maintains a private dental practice in the Bon Air area of Richmond, Virginia.
Ryan S. Jones, DDS
Ryan graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry in 2006 and was employed by his father, Dr. Perry Jones. He has been instrumental in the implementation of new technology in the Jones Family Dentistry practice. Ryan has over 10 years of experience with intraoral digital scanning using the iTero intraoral digital scanner in each of the different hardware evolutions as well as the many different software configurations. In addition to Align’s iTero scanners, he is experienced in all of Align’s Invisalign software versions including the most recent ClinCheck Pro, which was beta tested in the Jones practice. Ryan’s expertise extends to orthodontic records, taking quality extra oral and intra oral photographs.
Ryan has experience with many different software systems features including use for file merge of CBCT DICOM data and STL file digital scan data. He has extensive experience with implant planning software, CAD/CAM design software for guide design, as well as 3D printing technology. Software management systems he has managed include, 3shape, Simplant, Materialize, Anatomage, in-2-guide, Cybermed, and Blue Sky.
Some 5 years ago Ryan worked to help incorporate 3D printing into the workflow of general dental practice managing various 3D printers used for models, 3D printed guides and development of 3D printed provisionals. Ryan has managed the software systems used for 3D printing preparation for many different 3D printers used in the Jones dental practice. Ryan has managed NetFab and Form Labs software programs for the routine surface repair, design and manipulation of STL file prior to sending them to the 3D printers. 3D printers include Stratasys, EnvisionTec and Form Labs.
His experience extends to in-house milling using the IOS TS 150 mill and IOS Fast Design CAM design software system. As the first dental practice to use pre-sintered zirconia blocks for the BruxZir now technology, he has helped work with Glidewell Labs to develop the use of solid zirconia for single unit crowns milled in private dental office.
In pursuit of technology that can help elevate the quality of dental care as well as benefit dentistry, father and son are offering a mobile imaging business that provides a variety of solutions that include CBCT imaging, intraoral digital scanning, and photography.
Michael R. Jones
Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Biology from Hampden-Sydney College in 2003. Before joining the Mobile Imaging Solutions team, Michael served as an Environmental Scientist for the Virginia Department of Health and the City of Richmond, Virginia. Following his work with municipal environmental regulation, Michael began a career as an educator. After graduating from the University of Richmond School of Continuing Studies Teacher Licensure Program, Michael served as the Dean of Students, 6th grade science instructor, and middle school technology instructor at St. Michael's Episcopal School in Richmond, Virginia. During this time Michael performed the duties of a classroom teacher and managed the daily operations of St. Michael's middle school. 7 years into his career in education, Michael was asked by his brother and father if he would be willing to switch careers and join Mobile Imaging Solutions. Since that time, Michael has trained with NewTom VGi CBCT imaging professionals in San Francisco, California and Atlanta, Georgia. Michael has been certified in the state of Virginia to conduct CBCT imaging safely and accurately. Michael is an expert NewTom VGi operator and is proficient in the use of NNT and Cybermed OnDemand3D software. Michael's passion for science and technology are evident in his work with Mobile Imaging Solutions.
